Local Student wins prize in F.O.E.
International Contest

Matt Plante, local contest committee chairman, hands a $100
check to Chad Berry for 2nd Place in the 4th
grade category in the “What I Like Best About My Home Town” Art
Contest. Standing with Chad are his proud parents and brother.
The announcement was made by
Fred Allen, President of local Eagles Aerie #1248, that their
local Eagle Aerie has sponsored a winner in the Eagles
International Art Contest. Chad Berry from
Peru Elementary School was the
proud winner of a $100 check from the Grande Aerie.
“We are tremendously proud of
Chad and of all the students whose entries indicate pride and
knowledge of their community.” said Allen.
The “What I Like Best About My
Home Town” Art Contest has been sponsored by the F.O.E. for 32
years. It is held in April, which the Eagles have designated as
“Boost Your Home Town Month” throughout the United States and
Canada.
The purpose of the contest,
open to students in grades three through six, is to promote
community pride and awareness. Local Eagles Clubs invite
students in their communities to participate, and entries are
forwarded for judging to the international F.O.E. headquarters
in Grove City, Ohio.
The F.O.E. has 1.1 million
members in Aeries and Auxiliaries throughout the U.S.A. and
Canada
All of the Drawings and the
other 16 winning entries will be on display at the F.O.E.’s
International convention in
Louisville, Kentucky August 11th
