WORTHY PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE -   I would like to thank Tom Earegood and Don Barnes for installing the canopy at the dining room door, great job! Kay Tilley is doing a great job on our charity games.  The Friday Fish Fry is doing well thanks to all the volunteers. We are still looking for some volunteers for the Friday Fish Fry, if you can, come in and help support your club.  Keep your eye on the bulletin board in the club for coming activities in September. This will be our last monthly newsletter. Starting in October all newsletters will cover two month’s at a time.  This is all do to the high cost of mailing. Our September 19th District Meeting will be at the West Branch Eagles at 2:00 P.M.  I would like to see more members attend. Thank You! Worthy President, Bud Moore 

MADAM PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE -  Hello again! I am happy to see that “Taco Night” is going so well. Thank you to everyone for their support. Also I want to thank the ladies for all they are doing. I want to let everyone know that Monday, September 27th will be the last day. This month we have some events that I know will be great, so plan to attend and enjoy yourself and have some great food. Check the calendar for days and times. With Labor Day weekend coming up, I hope that everyone and their families have a safe and happy holiday.  Madam President, Doris Ryan

MEMBERS COME ON IN – Your Aerie and Auxiliary are always looking for ways to make our club a fun, pleasant place to spend time and interact together. We’ve got a wonderful membership who works hard for club projects throughout the year. There are several delicious food events happening as well as a variety of entertainments for the whole family. Your participation, your support, your suggestions for improvement, and your involvement make our clue “top” of the line.” So, COME ON IN – play pool, dance to fun music, enjoy terrific meals, sing karaoke, plus much more-spend some time at the club; it’s here for you! Entertainment Committee, Mike Stanczyk & Kay Tilley

 

BARTENDERS WANTED – The B.O.T. is accepting applications for the position of Bartender. We are looking for full and part time. Experience is not necessary, we will train. B.O.T.

 

AUXILIARY QUARTERLY MEETINGS - At our last regular meeting, your Auxiliary approved a proposal for quarterly meetings on a trial basis. Many of you cannot attend regular meetings because you work and/or live outside the immediate area. Your opinions and ideas would be very much appreciated, and your participation would be very welcome. The purpose of quarterly meetings is to give you a chance to actively be part of the group for which you pay dues annually. The first quarterly meeting will be held on Saturday, October 2nd, 2010, at the Aerie beginning at 10:00 A.M. and is an addition to our regular meetings.  Hope to see you there! Kay Tilley

 

HALE COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE – Thursday, September 2nd at the Plainfield Township Hall from 12:00 - 5:45 P.M. Workers are needed to set up and take down at10:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. ANNUAL PIG ROAST – Saturday, September 4th, and will be open to the public. Serving Roast Pork, Corn on the Cob, Baked Beans, Mashed Potatoes w/Gravy, Roll & Butter, and Dessert. Serving from 4:30 - till gone. Adults - $8:00, Children under 12 - $4.00. We will have live entertainment from 7 – 12 P.M. Co-Chairpersons, Norm & Jim

ST!TCH & B!TCH – Put St!tch & B!tch on your calendar starting September 9th from 1:00 – 3:30 every Thursday. We need sewers, BUT if you don’t sew, we have other jobs for everyone. Remember we do mending & sewing for donations, such as hemming pants, etc. Chairperson, Kay Laskey

ANNUAL RIVER QUEEN BOAT TRIP & STEAK FRY – Saturday, September 11th   at 3:00 - 5:30 P.M. is the boat trip down the beautiful Ausable River. Tom from Gunsmoke Express will be your entertainment on this enjoyable trip. Following the trip we will be enjoying a New York Strip Steak dinner at the club. Dinner will include Steak, Baked Potato and Salad. All this for $15.00. Tom will also be there to entertain you and provide music for your dancing and listening pleasure from 6:30 - 10:30 P.M. Keep this date open and come on out and have some fun and some good eats. See the Bartender for tickets.   Entertainment Chairperson, Karen Westcott & Paul Smith

FRENCH DIP SANDWICHES – Mark your calendar for September 14th, 2010 for a delicious French Dip meal. The meal consists of a Prime Rib Sandwich w/Au Jus, Cole Slaw and a Pickle Spear for $6.00. Meals will be sold from 4:00 until gone. All proceeds to Penrickton School for the Blind. Chairperson, Kay Tilley

 

REUBENS ARE BACK – Norm’s Reuben’s will be here on Thursday, September 16th. You’ll get a sandwich, fries and a pickle for only $7.00. Serving from 4:00 until gone. Chairperson, Norm Cooper

 

 

HOT AIR BALLOON FESTIVAL September 24th, 25th & 26th. Don’t forget to support your club and your community for the Hot Air Balloon Festival. There will be many activities planned for this big week-end. Our Club is a sponsor for this event and will be having pasties and entertainment Friday and Saturday. Tom from Gunsmoke Express will be here on Friday the 24th from 1:00 – 5:00 P.M. and Saturday from 7:00 P.M. - 11:00 P.M. Karaoke will be Friday from 8:00 P.M. ­- 12:00 A.M. There will also be a Karaoke Contest sponsored by the club at the fair grounds on Saturday the 25th from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. Come show your support and join the fun. PASTY DINNER – Your Auxiliary is hosting a Pasty Dinner on September 25th, 2010. The dinner includes your choice of a generous size homemade Chicken or Beef Pasty with gravy for only $6.00. Dinner will be served from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. Frozen Pasties will also be available for purchase. All proceeds will go to the Penrickton School for the Blind.  OPEN CLUB – September 24th & 25th - The club will be open to the public on Friday, September 24th & Saturday, September 25th for the Hale Balloon Festival. There will be Sloppy Joes and Chips served from 11:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. on both days. Entertainment will be provided in the evenings on both dates. B.O.T.

 

WHIMPIES ARE COMING – October is not far away and it will soon be time for Whimpies to start up again. They will start October 5th, the first Tuesday in October. As in the past years, we will serve Whimpies and Fries each Tuesday from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. So hope to see you soon at Whimpies. Chairperson, Karen Westcott & the Whimpie (not really) Crew

REMINDER – FOOTBALL PARTIES – October 9th will be Michigan vs. Michigan State and November 27th will be Michigan vs. Ohio State. We will have drink specials and food. Come join the fun and support your team. Chairperson, Tom Earegood

STUFFED CABBAGE DINNER – Mark your calendar for Thursday, October 21st. We will be having a Stuffed Cabbage Dinner in the Club from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. or until gone. All proceeds will go to MS. Chairpersons, Lillian & A.J.

ANNUAL HALLOWEEN PARTY – Scheduled for Saturday, October 30th. Music – Prizes for Best Costumes. Bring a dish to pass and the Aerie will supply the main dish. More information to follow in the October Newsletter. Entertainment Chairperson, Karen Westcott & B.O.T.

AUCTION TIME – We are taking items for our Charity Auction. The date has not been set as we need a number of good items on hand to make an Auction. Look around and donate your un-used items of value to us for this Auction! You can call Lillian at 257.4625 or talk to any barmaid. Thank you in advance! AERIE AUXILIARY CHARITIES – We have some beautiful Tee Shirts & Pins in our showcase for the State Charity for MS. We hope some of you will please buy some to help with our donation to help all with this crippling disease, MS. I’m trying hard to put our Auxiliary and Aerie on the top for this charity as I was appointed Chairperson for the year-with all you supporting the cause, together we can make this happen. Watch your bulletin and signs in the clubroom for the coming functions to raise the money we need! Maybe a Stuffed Cabbage Dinner; Auction; Beef Stew with Biscuits Dinner; Valentine Dance; Texas Holdem Tournament; Bus Trips and maybe more. TEXAS HOLDEM TOURNAMENT – A Texas Holdem Tournament will be held on Saturday, November 13th, in the Large Hall. So think about the Tournament and we will also have a Beef Stew & Biscuit Dinner from 4:00 – 8:00 or until gone. All proceeds will go to MS. More information in the Club and in the next bulletin. Thank you! Chairpersons, Lillian & A.J.
