Charitable Philosophy

Fraternal Order of Eagles Charities - People Helping People

People helping people is a value that the Fraternal Order of Eagles has held for more than a century. It's a statement that guides the charitable actions to help members and their families as well as fellow Americans affected by illness, injury or catastrophe.

It is this philosophy that has inspired our leadership to work toward a Fraternal Order of Eagles medical research facility dedicated to eliminating diseases that afflict so many.

Donations as Tax Deductions

A local Aerie or Auxiliary may advertise that the event can provide tax deductions to a donor under very specific terms. The donor must submit a check made payable to the FOE Charity Foundation. These checks must then be submitted directly to the Grand Aerie with any checks from the local Aerie or Auxiliary. The Aerie or Auxiliary will get the credit for the donation, but will we be able to account for it in such a way as to give the donor an acknowledgement for tax purposes. If a donor has paid with cash, a detailed listing of the donor, including name, address and phone number must be forwarded to the Grand Aerie along with a check made payable to the FOE Charity Foundation from the Aerie or Auxiliary for proper accountability.

In any event, payment for a fundraising dinner or other event, where the donor receives a meal, etc. for their money will NOT be considered tax deductible. The donor is getting something of value for their money. In these instances, the Aerie or Auxiliary collects the funds and sends payment to the FOE Charity Foundation as one donation.
