Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center Texas Hold ‘em Tournament
& Slot Tournament
Reno, Nevada
The Grand Aerie is hosting a Texas Hold ‘em Poker Tournament on Saturday, July 11
at 7 p.m. and a Slot Tournament on Wednesday, July 15 from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Grand
Sierra Resort & Casino with proceeds benefitting the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes
Research Center. The tournaments are open to the public and members. Prizes will
be awarded as noted on the respective tournament flyers/registration sheets.
To help promote the tournaments, we encourage you to:
- Hang the flyers within your aerie for all to see
- Announce the tournaments during any upcoming meetings
- Make copies of the flyer/registration page and pass out to anyone interested or
attending the Grand Convention

Bidding Aeries will need to submit the following:
- Letter from Aerie Secretary on Aerie letterhead with the event and year they are
bidding on.
- Description and photos of Aerie and location of the event.
- Availability of hotels.
- Access to Airports and major roadways.
- Plans for the event.
- Prior events held by Aerie or at the location.
- Letter from Auxiliary that they are willing to support the event.
- If event will not be held at the Aerie, a letter from the bowling alley, sports
complex, rental hall etc., will need to be sent showing they will host the event.
- Names, addresses and phone numbers of those that will be running the event.
Following the receipt and review of each bid:
Each event is different so following a review of the above information, the director
or a committee person would contact the bidder with more specific questions regarding
that event and the event requirements i.e. format, fields needed, alleys required,
pool tables needed, etc…
The Director will also call the State or Provincial President and Secretary to see
if any potential host has any known problems and their thoughts on the location
hosting the event.
After all of the above has been received and the necessary calls made a discussion
will be held either by phone, or email with the director, the committee and yourself
to determine which bidder will be recommended for approval by the Grand Board of
Trustees.
Once the Board of Trustees has approved a bidder, the Grand Aerie will send them
a letter and information on hosting the event.
If your Aerie is interested in hosting any of the open 2010 or 2011 tournaments,

Hosting Events
Hosting events is a very important part of being an Eagle. Events are hosted to
celebrate membership, raise money for charities and much more.
The Eagles host events on a national and local level. Be sure to check out the event
calendars to learn what is happening in your area!
