Operation Eagle
“Operation Eagle” Will Help Meet Soldiers’ Personal Needs
“Fight the enemies of Freedom with Fraternalism"
-- Billy Ray Cyrus
Operation Eagle offers us the opportunity to show our support for those serving
in the military. Launched in May, 2008, Operation Eagle is designed to show the
FOE’s appreciation for Eagle members or the sons and daughters of Eagle members
who are serving in the military by sending items needed by their units. Introduced
as a quarterly program, Operation Eagle is now focused on one annual collection
to maximize efficiency, and provide a stronger outreach to our recipients. Furthermore,
local Aeries and Auxiliaries can now provide direct support to the military members
of their choosing during other times of the year.
NEXT COLLECTION PERIOD: Sept. 1-30. Please do not ship items prior to this.
How Operation Eagle works
Each summer, local Aeries and Auxiliaries will nominate military units to which
an Eagle member or son or daughter of an Eagle member belongs. Depending on the
number of nominations received, the FOE will select up to eight service men or women
and their units. Nominations will be accepted annually from July 1-31.
The Grand Aerie will then publish a list of needed and approved items, which will
be collected at Grand Aerie headquarters from Sept. 1-30. After sorting and packing
the donations, Grand Aerie staff will ship the packages, targeting arrival during
the holiday season.
Spreading the word about the Eagles
Operation Eagle will enhance a positive community relations message for Aeries and
Auxiliaries that are “home” to the service men and women selected. We will publicize
individuals and units selected on the FOE Web site, in our electronic newsletters,
and in Eagle Magazine.
Because we will be able to ship items directly to service men and women selected,
military units receiving items will know they are donated by the Fraternal Order
of Eagles.
Thank you in advance for participating!
