The drawing was held at Ribs, Rods, and Rock’n’Roll following the Eagle Riders’ 10th Annual Charity Poker Run. This was the second Harley Davidson raffled off by the Riders for charity. Kothel’s winning ticket was purchased at Riverboat Days in Yankton. 2,000 tickets were sold at a cost of $20 each. From the September 2017 edition of People Helping People Related Vermillion, South Dakota - January 2017 Sunshine Aerie #2421 in Vermillion presented a grant for $5,000 from the D.D. Dunlap Kidney Fund to University of South Dakota researchers Curtis Kost, Jr., PhD and Douglas Martin, PhD for a project entitled Protective Effect of Bradykinin Receptors in Hypertension and Chronic Kidney Disease. The check was presented by visiting Grand Worthy President-Elect Tom McGrath. Dunlap Kidney Fund $510 for the GMP’s Charity, Tri-State Honor Flight $150 for the Golden Eagle, Alzheimer’s & Parkinson’s Funds $140 for the Jimmy Durante Children’s Fund $370 for the Lew Reed Spinal Cord Injury Fund $201 for the Max Baer Heart Fund $366 for the Memorial Foundation $648 for the Robert Hansen Diabetes Fund The Region also presented grants for $5,000 from the Grand Aerie and the Kansas Past State Presidents. Illinois - September 2017 Blue Island Auxiliary #1332 member Janice Soria was inducted into the Illinois State Auxiliary Hall of Fame during the State Convention on June 13. Janice routinely goes above and beyond to serve the Illinois State Eagles and the sisters of Illinois were proud to bestow this prestigious honor upon her for her efforts. Evansville, Indiana - Sept. 2017 River City #4023 recently installed its new Auxiliary officers. Installing President Suzie Schapker and Installing Conductor Sally Carr led the installation of new officers, including Auxiliary President Melinda Guinn. Inverness, Florida - Sept. 2017 Citrus Eagles #3992 recently awarded their first annual scholarship to Citrus High senior Miranda Scott. The following criteria were used to determine the first recipient: 1. Student need not be one of 4.0 grade average but one who applies himself/ herself diligently at all times. 2. In the interest of our motto, “ people helping people”, the student need be one who never disrupts the classroom, who never engages in bullying practices but may even be one who champions the bullied. A student who volunteers should be a serious candidate. 3. A student who’s attendance is sterling with no unexcused absences. 4. A student who never shows disrespect in any way to our country, I.E. The National Anthem, our flag, our military , first responders and/or law enforcement officials. 5. A student who never shows disrespect toward his/ her teachers. 6.
