30 March Detroit Lakes, Minnesota - March 2017 March 30, 2017 By The Fraternal Order of Eagles Minnesota 0 Detroit Lakes Eagles #2342 held their annual Community/Charity Auction on Saturday, Feb. 18. The live auction had a wide variety of products, services, gift items and more, which were auctioned off with proceeds going to great local causes. Chairman Larry Swiers reported that $3,700 was raised thanks to the many businesses who contributed to the auction. On Feb. 11, the Detroit Lakes Eagles Blood Drive saw 40 people volunteer to give blood. Eight gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine, which collects two unites of red blood cells, which resulted in 44 total products. They had three first time givers. Members recruited donors, registered them and provided refreshments and snacks for those who volunteered to give. United Blood Services representative Katie Bartelson thanked the Detroit Lakes Eagles for their successful effort. On Saturday, April 1, the Detroit Lakes Past President’s will be holding their annual Stag & Doe event, featuring a 10-gun raffle, a catered roast beef dinner with drinks from 6:30-10 p.m. Raffle tickets are $25 each and dinner & drink tickets are $25 each. Proceeds benefit local and community needs. From the March 2017 People Helping People Newsletter Related Cresaptown, Maryland - March 2017 The Eagles of Aerie & Auxiliary #2883 have been longtime supporters of the Interfaith Community Food Pantry on Cumberland Street. One of the fundraising projects has been the Christmas Auction, held annually at the Aerie home on McMullen Highway. In a recent presentation, a check for $3,500 was presented to John Minnich, Pantry Treasurer, and Bill Stewart, Pantry Manager. This gift was made possible due to the joint efforts of the Officers and members of both the Aerie and Auxiliary for the 2016 Christmas Auction. Maryland - March 2017 2015-2016 State Madam President Diana Booth of Frederick #1067 toured Maryland during her year to raise money for Family, Resource, Information & Education Network for Down Syndrome (F.R.I.E.N.D.S.), collecting more than $26,000. Brisbane, California - March 2017 On Feb. 15, Brisbane Eagles #3255 raised $775 for the Max Baer Heart Fund. Jefferson City, Missouri - March 2017 Grand Worthy President Jerry L. Sullivan recently visited Jefferson City, Mo., Eagles #2693. Jerry received a $200 donation to his charity, Lupus research, from the Aerie and a check for $100 from the Auxiliary. Marceline, Missouri - March 2017 During his time in Missouri, Grand Worthy President Jerry L. Sullivan stopped into Marceline Eagles #726 to visit with Aerie and Auxiliary members. The group there presented Jerry with a check for $500 to put towards his charity, Lupus research. Gulf Shores, Alabama - March 2017 Coastal Alabama #4549 took part in this year’s Mardi Gras Parade in Gulf Shores. The Coastal Alabama Eagles were officially instituted last year and have been working hard to get involved in a variety of community activities to increase their presence.
