Owatonna, Minnesota - May 2019

The Owatonna Eagles #1791 awarded $1,000 each to the four 2019 Don Tuerk Memorial Scholarship winners: Robert Kniefel, majoring in Law Enforcement, Benjamin Witikko, majoring in Law Enforcement, Julia Hansen, majoring in Law Enforcement, and Samantha Hovden-Marlin, majoring in Alcohol & Drug Counseling. The funding for these awards is from the Don Tuerk Endowment fund. Don Tuerk was a community-minded native, long-time Eagles member, and Owatonna fireman.

Albert Lea, Minnesota - January 2019

The Albert Lea Eagles Club #2258 raised $6500 and a box full of toys for Toys for Tots. Money was raised from raffle sales of Meat Packs on Thursday nights and on Sunday Viking Games. A special thanks to Lois, Julie and Carol for all their time and effort in raising the funds for Toys for Tots. Also Darron Becker who passed away this year in September.

Morris, Minnesota - December 2018

Morris Aerie #620 made a $700 contribution to the Morris Area High School toward the purchase of a new wrestling mat for the Morris Area Herman Chokio Alberta wrestling program. 

Morris Aerie #620 donated $750 to support the habitat and youth hunting programs in west central Minnesota. 

Morris Aerie #620 gave $1,100 to support the local D.A.R.E. program in the local elementary school. 

Morris Aerie #620 made a $125 donation that will go toward materials for elementary students so they can learn more about fire prevention.

Brainerd, Minnesota - August 2018

Brainerd Aerie #287 gave seven $500 scholarships to their local class of 2018 graduates and celebrated with the winners and their families during the reception. Each student will be furthering their education at schools across Minnesota and North Dakota. According to the Aerie, many of the scholarship recipients have volunteered their time at #287.

Detroit Lakes, Minnesota - March 2017

Detroit Lakes Eagles #2342 held their annual Community/Charity Auction on Saturday, Feb. 18. The live auction had a wide variety of products, services, gift items and more, which were auctioned off with proceeds going to great local causes. Chairman Larry Swiers reported that $3,700 was raised thanks to the many businesses who contributed to the auction.

On Feb. 11, the Detroit Lakes Eagles Blood Drive saw 40 people volunteer to give blood. Eight gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine, which collects two unites of red blood cells, which resulted in 44 total products. They had three first time givers. Members recruited donors, registered them and provided refreshments and snacks for those who volunteered to give. United Blood Services representative Katie Bartelson thanked the Detroit Lakes Eagles for their successful effort.

On Saturday, April 1, the Detroit Lakes Past President’s will be holding their annual Stag & Doe event, featuring a 10-gun raffle, a catered roast beef dinner with drinks from 6:30-10 p.m. Raffle tickets are $25 each and dinner & drink tickets are $25 each. Proceeds benefit local and community needs.
