Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Sept. 2017

For more than five years, the Eagles of Lake Havasu City #4299 have supported the research of Dr. Lipshitz of Children’s Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. His new microscopic research lab has been named for the Eagles with a sign hung above his workstation. He is using donations from the Eagles to purchase and build mini microscopes to study brain activity in mice. Past Worthy President Bob Lee and Past Madam President Penny Lee presented Dr. Lipshitz with a check for $4,500 to assist research regarding trauma to the brain, post traumatic stress syndrome and childhood diseases affecting the brain.

Phoenix, Arizona - Sept. 2017

Vickie Jo Scott of Sunnyslope Auxiliary #2957 in Phoenix has worked with the students at Granville Elementary in Prescott Valley, Ariz., the past two years where her grandchildren attended school to enter the Eagles’ Children’s Art Contest. This year, there were two third place winners from the school. Ethan Hunt, Grade 3, and Lexington Nilson, Grade 4, both received a $75 prize. The students were recognized at a Spirit and Pride assembly.

Tucson, Arizona - April 2017

During their annual awards ceremony on April 23, Tucson Eagles #180 presented a check for $5,000 to the University of Arizona Sarver Heart Research Center. The grant was received from the Eagles’ Max Baer Heart Fund thanks to the contributions from their regular fish dinners. Pictured are President David N. Galaz, Secretary Patricia Weichert and U of A representative Cheryl House. House explained that the money will be used to obtain blood samples and store them in a data bank and tissue bank to provide material and information which researchers can use for future studies to understand the biology and treatment of human disease.

The Lake Havasu City Eagles held their Miss Mess 2016 event, raising $1,280 for cancer causes. Glendale, Arizona - January 2017

Osborn Fraternal Order of Eagles #2843 recently presented a $3,000 grant from the Jimmy Durante Children’s Fund to El Mirage Police Department’s Victims Assistance Unit. The grant was made possible through Osborn’s work in winning the 2016 Children’s Day Contest thanks to an event planned last year with the help of the VAU to educate area families. Pictured are 2015-16 Osborn Presidents Chris and Becky Bettis, El Mirage Assistant Chief Laura Liuzzo, Lieutenant Randy Stewart and event chairperson Francis Drozanowski-Kuehler, a 20-year Osborn Auxiliary member and volunteer with the VAU.
