Brainerd, Minnesota - August 2018

Brainerd Aerie #287 gave seven $500 scholarships to their local class of 2018 graduates and celebrated with the winners and their families during the reception. Each student will be furthering their education at schools across Minnesota and North Dakota. According to the Aerie, many of the scholarship recipients have volunteered their time at #287.

Rumford, Maine - August 2018

Rumford Falls Auxiliary #1248 donated $10,000 to the Rumford Hospital Cardiac Rehab Unit in honor of Past Auxiliary President Mary MacDonald’s 18-year-old nephew who died of a heart ailment. “Because Brandon passed away from an undetected heart issue, I wanted to do something for him along that line, so that’s why I chose the cardiac rehab unit here at the hospital,” MacDonald said. The money was raised from private donations, and the Grand Aerie matched the grant with an additional $5,000.

Umatilla, Florida - August 2018

During Umatilla Aerie and Auxiliary #4491’s 13th anniversary party, Sheryl Sanders, Madam President of Auxiliary 4491, presented eight sensory weighted blankets for the Autistic Children in the Lake County School System to teachers from Umatilla Elementary, Umatilla Middle, Spring Creek Charter, and Umatilla High School. These efforts were coordinated through Region 1 with the assistance of Miranda Cornwell, Executive Secretary, and Dr. Abner, PhD, Exceptional Student Education.

Vernon, British Columbia - August 2018

Vernon Aerie #3557 hosted the provincial convention in honor of Klara Schubert, the Provincial Madam President for the 2017-2018 Fraternal year. For Schubert’s Breast Cancer charity, $21,630.25 was raised from various proceeds including selling ladybug pins, and a special raffle at the convention. Schubert plans to purchase equipment for the Vernon Jubilee Hospital, specifically a Mammotome Gamma Probe instrument.


Murray, Utah - July 2018

Murray Aerie #1760 Utah put on a Sweetheart Dance on February 10th to raise funds for the Max Baer Heart fund. During the dinner and raffle, with the match from the Grand Aerie, #1760 was able to present a $2,000 check to the Intermountain Heath Care Foundation Primary Children's Hospital for heart disease research and development. Primary Children's Hospital is a nonprofit that does not turn a child away based on ability to pay.
