This allows seniors to connect with family members through video chats with maintaining social distancing. The Aerie's $1,500 donation received a matching grant from the Royal Bank of Canada and contributed to a total amount raised in the community of $20,000. Penticton, British Columbia - January 2020 Penticton Eagles #4271 donated presents to the South Okanagan Women in Need Society’s ‘Angel Tree.’ SOWINS works to prevent abuse and increase awareness about the impacts of abuse, through creating dynamic, life-changing opportunities for individuals and families. Abbotsford, British Columbia - July 2018 Through all of Abbotsford Aerie #2726’s hard work and efforts over a few months, they were able to raise $16,281 for the Honour House Society. The Honour House Society provides a home away from home for Canadian Forces and Emergency Services personnel as they receive medical treatment in the Metro Vancouver Region. Abbotsford, British Columbia - November 2018 Abbotsford Aerie #2726 donated $1,500 to Cops for Cancer. The money will cover the funds to send one child to camp Goodtimes – which is a cancer camp for kids. The funds were raised during a dinner held for police and first responders who attend #2726’s annual bike tour to raise money for kids with cancer. This is the tenth year the Aerie has held this event. Abbotsford, British Columbia - June 2019 Abbotsford Aerie #2726 and Worthy President Rick Smith made a $30,300 donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Abbotsford Aerie donated $2,332.10 to Worthy President Richard Smith’s charity, the Abbotsford Hospice Society Holmberg House. Kasilof, Alaska - March 2020 Kasilof Eagles #4317 held a fundraiser for the Way-Out-Women Cancer Fund Run and was able to donate $4,057 to the cause. To raise the money, the Aerie and Auxiliary had food, a silent auction, split the pot and live music. For the WOW event, a team of women snowmobile riders logged 57+ miles in the hills to help those who suffer from cancer.
