They are the only blood bank in Alaska and they have to send samples of blood to the lower 48 states to be tested before it can be used. The money will be used to equip the lab to test blood locally. Anchorage Eagles #4207 made a $5,000 donation to the Alaska Injury Prevention Center. This grant will fund four educational presentations of CarFit to Alaskans over the age of 55. Motor vehicle crashes are the second leading cause of serious injury to this age group and this grant will provide adaptive devices and a check of how well their personal vehicle "fits" them. Related Articles Anchorage, Alaska - March 2020 During a mid-winter conference, Anchorage Auxiliary #4207 presented a $5,000 grant to the Anchorage Search Team (AST) from the Alzheimer's & Neurological Charity Foundation. The Anchorage Auxiliary #4207 was first introduced to AST when a member who has dementia went missing. During the search for this individual, #4207 were informed that AST is made up of volunteers and survives solely on donations. The Downtown Soup Kitchen/Hope Center (DSK Hope Center) provides meals, shelter, laundry services, and vocational training to homeless and low-income individuals in Anchorage, AK. They rely on private donations of food and money to meet the needs their guests. At the DSK Hope Center, their mission is to provide a hand up and out of homelessness. Feed Me Hope Bakery, Culinary School, and future Food Truck help their guests gain the skills they need to transform their lives. The Anchorage Aerie Auxiliary #4207 helped their Bakery and Culinary School with a $2,500 donation to buy new commercial ovens. Anchorage, Alaska - August 2020 Anchorage Auxiliary #4207 member Dina Niver was recently surprised with a plaque commemorating her induction in the Grand Auxiliary Hall of Fame. Dina served as Alaska State Madam President for the 2009-10 fraternal year and served as Pacific Northwest Regional Madam President in 2017-18. Anchorage, Alaska - May 2019 • #4207 gave a check for $2,271 and a box of winter clothing to the Anchorage Gospel Rescue Mission. The AGRM’s motto is “A meal, a bed, a soul well fed,” and they plan on using the money for helping those in need. • Marsha Lawton, Auxiliary Treasurer for Aerie #4207, presented a $1,000 check to the Anchorage Police and Fire Chaplains group. • Anchorage Aerie and Auxiliary #4207 donated $2,000 to Pamela Meadors, Executive Director of Alaska SPCA, and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Michigan - September 2020 Michigan State Fraternal Order of Eagles chose the Michigan Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for their charity partnership last year. State Worthy Jr. Past President George Schafer and the Michigan locations were able to raise more than $85,000 to support their mission. Fredericktown, Missouri - September 2020 Fredericktown #3758 is sponsoring a food drive in the community, and donated to Cooper Durrs’ educational trip after he overcame long-term health issues. Durrs’ mother also hosted a benefit, and the Eagles covered the entertainment for the event. Beatrice, Nebraska - September 2020 Beatrice Eagles #531 recently donated $50 checks to each first responder within Gage County, with the amount totaling $4,910 that was distributed to three organizations.
