Following a welcome from Aerie President Dave Hodges and Madam Vice President Amee VanVoorhis, a blessing was given, refreshments and light snacks were served. Related Articles North Platte, Nebraska - March 2018 North Platte Aerie #2839 has donated $1,000 to the North Platte Area Ready to Serve Volunteer Program to help offset the cost of books. Now in its tenth year, the books purchased are distributed to the North Platte public preschools and elementary schools, McDaid, Head Start and Our Redeemer Lutheran School each year. All students will receive two age-appropriate books. Lake Havasu City, Arizona - November 2018 Lake Havasu #4299 held their annual Miss Mess contest, and raised $4,269 for Art Ehrmann Cancer month. The money will go toward cancer research, GMP’s City of Hope charity, Camp Sunrise and Sidekicks, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and Leukemia research. Abbotsford, British Columbia - November 2018 Abbotsford Aerie #2726 donated $1,500 to Cops for Cancer. The money will cover the funds to send one child to camp Goodtimes – which is a cancer camp for kids. The funds were raised during a dinner held for police and first responders who attend #2726’s annual bike tour to raise money for kids with cancer. This is the tenth year the Aerie has held this event. Aurora, Colorado - November 2018 Aurora Eagle Riders donated $15,300 to the Children’s Hospital Colorado for diabetes research during the Aurora Eagles anniversary dinner in October. Pueblo, Colorado - November 2018 Pueblo Eagles #145 was voted the Best of Pueblo Colorado in two categories; Best Wedding Venue and Best Night out with Friends. Out of 300,000 votes, #145 took gold in both categories. Fort Walton Beach, Florida - November 2018 Panhandle Aerie #4045 stepped up to help those affected by Hurricane Michael. Through donations, and help from others, they were able to donate pallets of water, and approximately 5,000 lbs. of supplies. Additionally, two charcoal/ propane grills were anonymously donated, so the Aerie purchased tanks of propane, charcoal, and lighter fluid, and donated those items to Fire Chief Nicky Lovett of Marianne.
