Following a welcome from Aerie President Dave Hodges and Madam Vice President Amee VanVoorhis, a blessing was given, refreshments and light snacks were served. Each Charter Member in attendance received a charter member pin for their years of dedication and continued membership. Bellevue, Nebraska - January 2023 Last year, Bellevue Eagles #3912 made a donation of $2,700 to the Bellevue Fire Department to outfit the entire department with Fire Hoods, which are worn by every firefighter when called to the scene of a fire, underneath their helmet to protect the head, ears and neck from burns and blocking cancer carcinogens from passing through to the firefighters’ bodies. Bellevue raised of the money, with the Grand Aerie matching dollar for dollar. Past Madam President April Frazier, Past Madam President Sue Winter and Madam Vice President Jenny Kentopp stopped by District 1 fire station to present the donation to Fire Chief Perry Guido, Battalion Chief Joe Gibilisco and other firefighters. Grants Pass, Oregon - November 2023 The Fraternal Order of Eagles provided about $4,000 in vehicles and $38,000 to support Go Baby Go, a community outreach program housed in the College of Health that provides modified ride-on vehicles to children experiencing disability. Weeki Wachee, Florida - November 2023 Nancy Sina, PWP & Mike Bollinger, Trustee delivered a donation check of $3,000 to Forgotten Angels on Friday, October 27th. They take in boys aging out of foster care who are left homeless. With their assistance, the boys have to finish high school/GED and retain employment. They build their own cabin on the 15 acre property. They're taught carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and a myriad of other life skills that will enable them to become independent, self supporting men. Weeki Wachee also donated art & pantry supplies to Veterans Heat, which is a free service to help veterans with PTSD heal. Eastern Region - November 2023 Eastern Regional Madam President Christine Shupe presented a grant of $2,500 to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation Child Life Program. Glendale, Arizona - November 2023 The Glendale Eagles provided a free turkey dinner to anyone who came through the door. They served about 400 plates and also provided food for two firehouses and and entire shift at a local hospital. The Glendale Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary members came together with friends and family to make this happen and partnered with a local charity Labor Community Services, Los Angeles to make 300 boxes of non-perishable food items available for anyone in need.
