Between the Riders and the Aerie, a total of $5,000 was raised. The Aerie applied for a matching grant from the F.O.E. Charity Foundation and presented a total grand to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for $10,000. Related Articles Blairsville, PA - January 2021 Auxiliary President Marlene Kerley of Blairsville #1488 chose the Center for Organ Recovery and Education (CORE) as her charity last year. CORE’s mission is to encourage people to donate organs and tissue for transplants in order to save and improve lives. CORE held special meaning for Marlene as she donated one of her kidneys to her sister, Bonnie Confer, in 1999 and also has a brother, Bill Hebenthal, who received a liver transplant in 2003. A Garden of Life Party was held last year with activities including a dinner, raffle of six large donated items, 50/50 drawings, over 80 donated raffle baskets and more. Lock Haven, Pennsylvania - January 2017 Lock Haven F.O.E. #4298 donated $5,000 to the Salvation Army. Hallock, Minnesota - January 2021 The Eagles of Hallock #2617 recently presented a grant from the F.O.E. Charity Foundation Cancer Fund for $1,000 to the Hospice of Kittson County. They also donated $500 to the Salvation Army and $150 to the Hallock Senior Nutrition Council. Roseau, Minnesota - January 2021 For many years, Roseau Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary #3882 has served an annual Christmas Day Dinner they call “Do Not Spend Christmas Day Alone.” Typically, they prepare the meal as a sit-down dinner, but changed the service to carryout in 2020 due to the ongoing pandemic. In under two hours, they served 120 take out meals consisting of turkey, mashed potatoes, squash, cranberries, meatballs, lefse and a pumpkin roll. All items were donated. The meals were free, however some donated money which was given to Minnesota State Auxiliary President Marlene Hanson’s charity Make-A-Wish of Minnesota. Chattanooga, Tennessee - January 2021 Scenic City Auxiliary #945 in Chattanooga, Tenn., presented a $1,200 grant from the Fraternal Order of Eagles H.O.M.E. Fund to CHI Memorial Hospital's Cancer Support Center. The funds were raised during a special Halloween Dance as part of the "Boo! Scare Cancer Away" campaign.
