The BSC provides a senior nutrition program, and as a home delivery meal program service. In non-pandemic times, the Center is a source for senior fellowship, advocacy, fun and activities. Related Articles Cape Girardeau, Missouri - October 2020 The Cape Girardeau Eagles #3775 hosted a benefit for long-time member of their Aerie, Dillon Rhymer. Dillon has been fighting cancer this past year, and to show their appreciation and love and support, they held a 4-day benefit in his honor. Dillon joined their Aerie in 1977 and has been an active member and officer since. He served as a Past President, Secretary, Treasurer, Trustee and many other offices and committees over the years. He has also been selected to be in the Missouri State Hall of Fame. To the Aerie and Auxiliary, Dillion was their ‘go to guy’ whenever they needed work done or help with any projects. Chairman John A. Heuer, co-chair Kevin James Randy Hahs, and John Kieffer spent weeks planning and thinking of ways to raise money that would be special for everyone to enjoy and want to support. With the help of many of Eagle members, the benefit was a great success and they raised more than $16,000 to help Dillion. Boonville, Missouri - October 2018 Past Madam State President and Past Madam South Central Regional President Barb Cornine was recently featured in HERHEALTH magazine for her work with Ovarian Cancer and the Vicki Welsh Foundation. Barb is a 13-year ovarian cancer survivor and as a part of her special charity, the state raised over $30,000 and donated it to the Vicki Welsh fund. While the fund brings awareness to Ovarian Cancer, much of the money raised was donated to the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS for Ovarian Cancer research. Shell Knob, Missouri - August 2020 Shell Knob Eagles #4155 partnered with the Central Crossing Senior Center. The CCS Center is an advocate for seniors, and is providing them with residential opportunities. Photo Credit: Cassville Democrat Sullivan, Missouri - August 2020 Meramec Valley Eagles #3781 recently donated 3 pallets of water bottles to the Sullivan, Bourbon, Spring Bluff and Strain-Japan school districts and St. Anthony’s. The donation totals 5,616 bottles of water and will be disturbed to local schools to assist in needs of students or staff due to COVID restrictions for the upcoming school year. #3781 is celebrating 43 years (est. Aug 28, 1977), and is proud to serve and support the Sullivan and Bourbon communities! Manitowoc, Wisconsin - October 2020 Manitowoc Aerie #706 recently held a fundraiser to help the Manitowoc County Miracles Special Olympics. A donation of $1,140 was made in memory of former Miracles Athlete and Aerie member Paul Horner. Sutherlin, Virginia - October 2020 Piedmont Eagles #4420 held their eleventh annual Dean Ferris Memorial Ride, and in its ninth year of benefiting the Danville Pittsylvania Cancer Association, they were able to raise $11,750 for the organization.
