31 October Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts - October 2017 October 31, 2017 By The Fraternal Order of Eagles Massachusetts 0 Buzzards Bay Auxiliary #3741 recently held a meat raffle event to raise money for A Night To Shine, which creates an unforgettable prom night experience for people with special needs, collecting $1,406 for the cause. Last Valentine’s Day, 375 churches and 150,000 volunteers united to celebrate 75,000 special needs individuals with a night centered around God’s love and the value of life. The annual event takes place the Friday before Valentine’s Day and provides a red carpet entrance complete with a friendly welcome from paparazzi, limousine rides, hair and makeup stations, shoe shine areas, dinner, karaoke, prom favors for each guest and dancing. To date, 500 churches across 28 denominations in 17 countries are committed to the 2018 event. Related Articles Rockland, Massachusetts - October 2017 Rockland Eagles #841 recently welcomed former New England Patriot Joe Andruzzi for a special presentation. The Eagles presented Andruzzi with a check for $10,000 to benefit the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, which provides financial assistance to patients and families battling cancer, allowing them to focus on recovery instead of bills. The foundation also funds research at Boston Children’s Hospital. Andruzzi was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Burkitt’s lymphoma in 2007, ending his football career. In 2008, they created the foundation to give back to those facing similar battles. Ladysmith, British Columbia - October 2017 Ladysmith Auxiliary #2101 recently presented lap blankets to Past Provincial Madam President Donna Roach. Donna’s special project during her year was to have Auxiliary members make lap blankets to be donated. Ladysmith members made 48 blankets which were donated to the Lodge on 4th, an intermediate care facility. Wisconsin - October 2017 The Wisconsin State Aerie recently presented a grant for $1,000 to the Wisconsin Badger Camp in Prairie du Chien, Wisc. The money will be used to improve the handicap accessibility to some of the buildings at the camp. After a comprehensive tour of the facility by Badger Camp Executive Director Brent Bowers, the check presentation was made. Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan - October 2017 Sisters Jean Nurse and Darlene Beaudin of Moose Jaw Auxiliary #3395 coordinated the “Fill The Pantries” campaign this year and on October 10, held a food drive collecting 214 items and $30 in cash. All donations were given to the Riverside Mission shelter. Leavenworth, Kansas - October 2017 Leavenworth Eagles #55 held their People Helping Pantries drive, collecting 711 food items and $520 in cash for the Catholic Food Pantry. Lincoln City, Oregon - October 2017 North Lincoln #2576 completed a successful School Supply Drive, delivering $1,500 in supplies to the local high school to be used by the homeless students in grades 7-12.
