31 October Campbell River, British Columbia - October 2017 October 31, 2017 By The Fraternal Order of Eagles British Columbia 0 Members of the Campbell River Fraternal Order of Eagles were joined by Provincial Madam President Klara Shurbert on October 3 to present a check for $10,000 to the Campbell River Food Bank. “We are thrilled with the end result of all of our hard work and that so many members of our community supported our fundraising efforts,” said chairperson Marlene Jordan. “The majority of all funds were raised by numerous jam and bake sales over the last few months, and every dollar added up. Our goal was to raise as much money as we could to support some of our most vulnerable community members,” said Jordan. Donna’s special project during her year was to have Auxiliary members make lap blankets to be donated. Ladysmith members made 48 blankets which were donated to the Lodge on 4th, an intermediate care facility. Campbell River, British Columbia - July 2018 Campbell River Eagle Riders #3097 made a $3,000 donation to The Kidney Foundation of Canada and Campbell River Search and Rescue. The Eagle Riders raised the money during their annual poker run, and the Kidney Foundation plans on using the donation to help with overall funding of activities. Campbell River, British Columbia - December 2018 Campbell River Aerie and Auxiliary #3097 presented an $8,150 check and donated a total of 1,447 food items to their local food back. The money was raised through catering, pie, jam and bake sales, and dinners. Campbell River Eagles #3097 donated $5,000 to Kidney Cancer Research. This donation is special because it will be matched, and will turn into $10,000. These funds were raised through pie sales, caterings and a fashion show. Chemainus, British Columbia - January 2017 On Oct. 4, the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Chemainus-Crofton #4400 presented Tour de Rock team members with a check for $1,500 for Pediatric Cancer Research and support programs at a breakfast held at the Legion. The Canadian Cancer Society Cops For Cancer Tour de Rock is a fundraising event to support Pediatric Cancer Research and support programs for children with cancer. Since 1998, more than 300 police officers have been named to the team along with 41 others, including childhood cancer survivors, longtime volunteers and members of the media who tell their stories. A new team is picked every year and only one person has ridden more than once. On top of fundraising, team members train on their bikes three days a week to help prepare for the demands of the 1,100 kilometer, 2-week ride. Riders are paired with a junior rider from a group of Vancouver Island children who have battled, are battling or are the sibling of someone who lost their battle with cancer. Penticton, British Columbia - May 2017 The Aerie and Auxiliary of Penticton #4281 held their annual Charity Check Giving night, presenting checks totaling more than $50,000 to 12 local charities including the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation’s patient care tower. Ladysmith, British Columbia - November 2017 Ladysmith Eagles Auxiliary #2101 Madam President Sheila Williams and Madam Vice President Arlene Neale presented a check to Louise Baines of the local food bank for $4,037.25 along with 1,000 pounds of food collected by the Eagles.
