12 December Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - May 2018 December 12, 2018 By The Fraternal Order of Eagles Idaho 0 Coeur d'Alene Aerie #486 donated $1,000 to the "Bare Necessities Backpack Project" to help local veterans with essential needs. The backpacks are filled with items for personal hygiene, bathing, dental hygiene, Band-Aids, first-aid cream, towels, washcloths, socks, hats and gloves in the winter, sewing kits, manicure kits, water bottles, eating utensils, notepads and pens. The backpack program is a collaborative effort between 4-H members, the Coeur d'Alene Eagles #486, the VFW Foundation and the VFW Post 889 Auxiliary. Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - October 2017 In Spring of 1942, Raymond Johnson began his journey as a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. On Sept. 19, the Eagles honored him for 75 consecutive years of membership. Current Worthy President of Coeur d’Alene #486 presented him with a plaque and a specially made pin. He and his wife currently live in a senior facility in Coeur d’Alene but they try to enjoy the Thursday burger nights when possible. Johnson’s history with the FOE was featured in an article by the Coeur d’Alene Press. Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - November 2017 Coeur d’Alene Eagles #576 made a $7,500 donation to the K-27 Memorial Fund, presenting the check to Mayor Steve Widmyer and Coeur d’Alene Police Chief Lee White. The funds will be used to help construct a Thin Blue Line Memorial River in McEuen Park in honor of Sergeant Greg Moore, who passed away in May 2015. The river will include three waterfalls – “Respect,” “Honor,” and “Remember” – as well as 18 benches for people to relax and reflect on all of our men and women in blue who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Hayden Lake, Idaho - November 2018 Hayden Auxiliary #4080 made a $9,000 donation to Hospice of North Idaho with the money raised from their 17th annual golf tournament. Detroit Lakes, Minnesota - January 2018 Detroit Lakes #2342 collected socks, mittens, scarves, caps, diapers, toys and more to be donated to the Lakes Crisis Center, Mahubes and Compassion House for the holiday season. Florida - February 2018 On Dec. 1, more than 70 men and women from the Florida State Aerie & Auxiliary enjoyed an afternoon reception hosted by the Florida Hospital Foundation. During the reception, the FOE was recognized for attaining a place of honor on the Foundation’s Lifetime Donor Hall of Fame by exceeding one half-million dollars in contributions. David Collis, President of the Florida Hospital Foundation, told the group that in appreciation for the outstanding achievement, the hospital renamed four key rooms within the facility in honor of the F.O.E. They are as follows: FOE Vitals Room in the Florida Hospital for Children FOE Library in the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute FOE Conference Room in the Florida Hospital Cardiovascular Institute FOE Creation Consult Room in the Florida Hospital Diabetes Institute During the ceremony, Collis also presented Florida Past State Madam President Michelle McCarthy with a special plaque in honor of her continued dedication and generosity to Florida Hospital.
