31 October Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - October 2017 October 31, 2017 By The Fraternal Order of Eagles Idaho 0 In Spring of 1942, Raymond Johnson began his journey as a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. On Sept. 19, the Eagles honored him for 75 consecutive years of membership. Current Worthy President of Coeur d’Alene #486 presented him with a plaque and a specially made pin. He and his wife currently live in a senior facility in Coeur d’Alene but they try to enjoy the Thursday burger nights when possible. Related Articles Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - November 2017 Coeur d’Alene Eagles #576 made a $7,500 donation to the K-27 Memorial Fund, presenting the check to Mayor Steve Widmyer and Coeur d’Alene Police Chief Lee White. The funds will be used to help construct a Thin Blue Line Memorial River in McEuen Park in honor of Sergeant Greg Moore, who passed away in May 2015. The river will include three waterfalls – “Respect,” “Honor,” and “Remember” – as well as 18 benches for people to relax and reflect on all of our men and women in blue who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - February 2018 Coeur d’Alene Eagles Auxiliary #486 presented the Village at Orchard Bay with a donation of $2,400 for power recliners. Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - May 2018 Coeur d'Alene Aerie #486 donated $1,000 to the "Bare Necessities Backpack Project" to help local veterans with essential needs. The backpacks are filled with items for personal hygiene, bathing, dental hygiene, Band-Aids, first-aid cream, towels, washcloths, socks, hats and gloves in the winter, sewing kits, manicure kits, water bottles, eating utensils, notepads and pens. The backpack program is a collaborative effort between 4-H members, the Coeur d'Alene Eagles #486, the VFW Foundation and the VFW Post 889 Auxiliary. Ladysmith, British Columbia - October 2017 Ladysmith Auxiliary #2101 recently presented lap blankets to Past Provincial Madam President Donna Roach. Donna’s special project during her year was to have Auxiliary members make lap blankets to be donated. Ladysmith members made 48 blankets which were donated to the Lodge on 4th, an intermediate care facility. Wisconsin - October 2017 The Wisconsin State Aerie recently presented a grant for $1,000 to the Wisconsin Badger Camp in Prairie du Chien, Wisc. The money will be used to improve the handicap accessibility to some of the buildings at the camp. After a comprehensive tour of the facility by Badger Camp Executive Director Brent Bowers, the check presentation was made. Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan - October 2017 Sisters Jean Nurse and Darlene Beaudin of Moose Jaw Auxiliary #3395 coordinated the “Fill The Pantries” campaign this year and on October 10, held a food drive collecting 214 items and $30 in cash.
