11 May Covington, Ohio - February 2018 May 11, 2018 By The Fraternal Order of Eagles Ohio 0 Covington Eagles #3998, in conjunction with the Fields of Grace Church hosted the 7th Annual Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner, feeding 1,113 people. Through the hard work of the Eagles members in Covington, they were able to donate $3,500 toward the cost of the dinners. The Aerie in Covington supports the villages of Covington, Bradford and Pleasant Hill and over the past five years, has donated more than $500,000 to fire/rescue, schools, libraries, police, county sheriff’s, local community chest and more as needed. They also donate their hall for community projects, health fairs, memorial services, church services and more. From the February 2018 edition of People Helping People Related Articles Lebanon, Ohio - February 2018 Lebanon Eagle Riders #1395 delivered gift bags and Christmas wishes to the residents of Lebanon Care on December 17. The Lebanon Eagle Riders, founded in 2008, have always selected a family at Christmas and donated gifts. This year, they wanted to give back to the 67 residents at Lebanon Care. Working with the staff, they provided them with gift bags including sweatshirts, socks, shampoos, lotion, after shave, chap stick, hand sanitizer, Kleenex, puzzle books and other items for the 67 residents. We passed out the gift bags while wishing them a Merry Christmas. Florida - February 2018 On Dec. 1, more than 70 men and women from the Florida State Aerie & Auxiliary enjoyed an afternoon reception hosted by the Florida Hospital Foundation. During the reception, the FOE was recognized for attaining a place of honor on the Foundation’s Lifetime Donor Hall of Fame by exceeding one half-million dollars in contributions. David Collis, President of the Florida Hospital Foundation, told the group that in appreciation for the outstanding achievement, the hospital renamed four key rooms within the facility in honor of the F.O.E. They are as follows: FOE Vitals Room in the Florida Hospital for Children FOE Library in the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute FOE Conference Room in the Florida Hospital Cardiovascular Institute FOE Creation Consult Room in the Florida Hospital Diabetes Institute During the ceremony, Collis also presented Florida Past State Madam President Michelle McCarthy with a special plaque in honor of her continued dedication and generosity to Florida Hospital. Georgetown, Ohio - March 2018 Ohio State Treasurer Jack Buehner received a $1,000 donation for the Eagles Cancer Fund from Pleasant Aerie #2293. Elyria, Ohio - April 2018 Elyria Eagle Riders Aerie #431 held a spaghetti dinner and raffle fundraiser for Rayshawn and Samantha Camel after they lost everything in a house fire around Christmas. During the benefit, $1,500 was raised, and the Eagle Riders and Eagle Club raised $600 out of that total. The Camels are grateful for the community’s help, especially after the house damage ended up being estimated at $40,000 and is currently uninhabitable. Greenfield, Ohio - April 2018 American flags dedicated to the 660 veterans who take their own lives each month are now on display at the Paint Aerie #1325 Eagles lodge. The flags are a part of the Forgotten Soldiers project, which is designed to bring attention to this tragedy by moving the display every so often to a different location. Lake Havasu City, Arizona - February 2018 Lake Havasu Eagles #4299 Past Madam President Penny Lee recently presented a grant for $1,500 to the HAVEN House Food for Kids program.
