22 September Croswell, Michigan - Sept. 2017 September 22, 2017 By The Fraternal Order of Eagles Michigan 0 Croswell-Lexington Eagles #4465 have been hard at work for the last year, raising countless funds to benefit the community. Members made a substantial donation to the Croswell Food Truck Ministry, helping provide $125 in food to each of 184 families to feed a total of 758 individuals in need. They also donated $550 to the Moving Wall project to help bring the Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall to Sandusky, Ohio. Lastly, they gave $500 to Cub Scout Pack #322 to help buy tents and camping gear. Sparta, Michigan - May 2017 Amber Paszkowski, a firefighter for the city of Grand Rapids, Mich., and a member of North Kent Eagles #3430, has twice saved the life of a fellow member over the last 15 months. In April 2016, Amber and her sister stopped by Fruitport #3666. While they were there, a member suffered a heart attack. Without hesitation, Amber administered CPR and revived the lady, who was then transported to the hospital and is now doing well. On March 11, 2017, Amber and her husband Pat were at the Michigan State Men’s Bowling Tournament hosted by North Kent #3430 to help with the 50/50 drawing. A gentleman from Hazel Park #2449 had a heart attack after finishing a game. Amber and her husband, a retired firefighter, started CPR, reviving the gentleman, who has since returned home. Muskegon, Michigan - September 2018 Muskegon Aerie #668 participated in the first Mark Hutchins Memorial Golf Outing and was able to present the University of Michigan with a check of $5,200 for their Melanoma research in memory of trustee and fellow eagle, Mark Hutchins. Illinois - September 2017 Blue Island Auxiliary #1332 member Janice Soria was inducted into the Illinois State Auxiliary Hall of Fame during the State Convention on June 13. Janice routinely goes above and beyond to serve the Illinois State Eagles and the sisters of Illinois were proud to bestow this prestigious honor upon her for her efforts. Evansville, Indiana - Sept. 2017 River City #4023 recently installed its new Auxiliary officers. Installing President Suzie Schapker and Installing Conductor Sally Carr led the installation of new officers, including Auxiliary President Melinda Guinn. Inverness, Florida - Sept. 2017 Citrus Eagles #3992 recently awarded their first annual scholarship to Citrus High senior Miranda Scott. The following criteria were used to determine the first recipient: 1. Student need not be one of 4.0 grade average but one who applies himself/ herself diligently at all times. 2. In the interest of our motto, “ people helping people”, the student need be one who never disrupts the classroom, who never engages in bullying practices but may even be one who champions the bullied. A student who volunteers should be a serious candidate. 3. A student who’s attendance is sterling with no unexcused absences. 4. A student who never shows disrespect in any way to our country, I.E. The National Anthem, our flag, our military , first responders and/or law enforcement officials. 5. A student who never shows disrespect toward his/ her teachers. 6.
