Related Articles Umatilla, Florida - August 2018 During Umatilla Aerie and Auxiliary #4491’s 13th anniversary party, Sheryl Sanders, Madam President of Auxiliary 4491, presented eight sensory weighted blankets for the Autistic Children in the Lake County School System to teachers from Umatilla Elementary, Umatilla Middle, Spring Creek Charter, and Umatilla High School. These efforts were coordinated through Region 1 with the assistance of Miranda Cornwell, Executive Secretary, and Dr. Abner, PhD, Exceptional Student Education. Edgewater, Florida - April 2018 New Smyrna-Edgewater Aerie #4242 presented Wendy Bentley from the Southeast Volusia County Humane Society with two checks; one from the Aerie for $1,273 and another from the Eagle Riders #4242 for $635 to benefit their humanitarian efforts. St. Augustine, Florida - June 2018 St. Augustine Auxiliary #4256 donated $7,000 to K9 Partners for Patriots, Inc. The money was raised from #4256’s annual poker run. K9 Partners for Patriots is a nonprofit that helps Veterans with PTSD, TBI & MST with thoughts of suicide, depression, and anxiety through the experience of training their own service dog. Anchorage, Alaska - August 2018 Anchorage Aerie #4207 presented a $5,694 check to Kids Kitchen, a local meal program in the Fairview Community. Contributions were collected for Past State Madam President Laura Rhode’s charity project during her tenure from 2016-2017. Kids Kitchen has been providing one million meals to children since 1996. Florida - February 2018 On Dec. 1, more than 70 men and women from the Florida State Aerie & Auxiliary enjoyed an afternoon reception hosted by the Florida Hospital Foundation. During the reception, the FOE was recognized for attaining a place of honor on the Foundation’s Lifetime Donor Hall of Fame by exceeding one half-million dollars in contributions. David Collis, President of the Florida Hospital Foundation, told the group that in appreciation for the outstanding achievement, the hospital renamed four key rooms within the facility in honor of the F.O.E. They are as follows: FOE Vitals Room in the Florida Hospital for Children FOE Library in the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute FOE Conference Room in the Florida Hospital Cardiovascular Institute FOE Creation Consult Room in the Florida Hospital Diabetes Institute During the ceremony, Collis also presented Florida Past State Madam President Michelle McCarthy with a special plaque in honor of her continued dedication and generosity to Florida Hospital. Needles, California - August 2018 Needles Aerie #2599 donated $300 for the Needles Regional Museum.
