Related Articles Gig Harbor, Washington - April 2018 Gig Harbor Aerie #2809 celebrated its 70 anniversary where they honored fellow member Eric Asplund. Asplund, 93, has served at his aerie since its installation and is the only living charter member. Wanting children to feel safe in the hospital during Christmas, he decided to start a toy drive. In 2016 Darner ended up distributing 259 toys out of his 50 toy goal. Wanting to continue the tradition, Darner held the toy drive again this year and Port Orchard Aerie #2338 donated 1,500 toys for the cause. The 1,500 toys were part of a large donation the Eagles received four years ago that were not yet been distributed. In addition to the generous toy donation, past President Tom Riedel commended Zachary for his work and made him an honorary Eagle. Belfair, Washington - April 2018 North Mason #4426 has donated a cumulative $7,250 over the past year to community charities, the local schools, the baseball field, the Humane Society, and more. They have raised money by hosting a weekly free bingo night where they sell raffle tickets. Chehalis, Washington - April 2018 Chehalis Aerie #1550 presented each Ferron Eagle scout with an American flag during the Tavaputs District Eagle Scout Banquet. Freeland, Washington - April 2020 Whidbey Island Eagles #3418 held their annual tradition of distributing funds to a variety of South Whidbey Island local charities on February 15, 2020. A total of $20,600 was distributed to WAIF, Friends of the Freeland library, Friends of Friends Medical Support, S.W. Fire & Rescue, Enso House, Whidbey Island Nourishes, S.W. Homeless Coalition, Readiness to Learn, HUB Youth Center, Good Cheer Food Bank, and Hearts & Hammers.
