14 April Fremont, Nebraska - December 2019 April 14, 2020 By The Fraternal Order of Eagles Nebraska 0 Fremont Auxiliary #200 collected school supplies to donate to children and teachers in need. Items donated included paper, pencils, pens, notebooks, colors, colored pencils, Kleenex, protractors, and more. This was the first time the Auxiliary has decided to do that after former #200 Trustee Beverley Mielke suggested this project. The Auxiliary plans to do this every August going forward, to support the different elementary schools in their area. From the December 2019 edition of People Helping People. Bellevue, Nebraska - April 2019 When devastating floods hit Nebraska, Bellevue Eagles #3912 hosted a free dinner for the victims of the flood, first responders, and volunteers, and was able to serve close to 300 individuals. Also, they were able to raise more than $1,000 in one day to help support the flood victims by collecting generous donations from local businesses, community members, and Eagle members. More than 300 homes in Bellevue alone were deemed uninhabitable after the floods, and #3912 plans on hosting a future benefit to help with recovery efforts. Lake Havasu City, Arizona - December 2019 Lake Havasu City Eagle Riders #4299 started a cuddly movement by selling and donating stuffed teddy bears fitted with a motorcycle jacket and the Eagle Riders emblem on the back. In order to get the project started, five local Eagle Riders from #4299 chipped in to make the initial purchase of 500 bears. The goal is that the money raised from those bears can help the organization purchase even more bears, with excess money being donated to local charities. #4299 member Tom O’Brien originally came up with the idea of the Charity Bear. Ocean View, Delaware - December 2019 In celebration of Veterans, Ocean View Aerie #4528 was proud to make two donations of $500 to the veterans at the Home of the Brave Foundation in Milford, DE. The Home of the Brave's mission is to reduce homelessness among the Military Veteran population. In addition to providing transitional housing, food and security, Home of the Brave assists with employment, counseling services, access to healthcare, transportation and locating affordable housing. Aurora, Colorado - December 2019 Aurora Eagles #3224 held a Chili Cook-Off in honor of Trudy Stevens and raised $343 for 2 Blondes All Breed Animal Rescue in Trudy’s name. Orange Park, Florida - December 2019 Orange Park Eagles #4365 held their annual Toys for Tots dart tournament, and was able to donate $1,300 worth of toys to children for the holidays.
