From the September 2017 edition of People Helping People Related Articles Hudson, Florida - September 2018 Spring Hill Auxiliary and Aerie #4208 presented a $450 check to Hudson Elementary, along with boxes of backpacks and other school supplies. #4208 holds an annual fundraising event “Back to School Supplies” before the start of every school year. Inverness, Florida - Sept. 2017 Citrus Eagles #3992 recently awarded their first annual scholarship to Citrus High senior Miranda Scott. The following criteria were used to determine the first recipient: 1. Student need not be one of 4.0 grade average but one who applies himself/ herself diligently at all times. 2. In the interest of our motto, “ people helping people”, the student need be one who never disrupts the classroom, who never engages in bullying practices but may even be one who champions the bullied. A student who volunteers should be a serious candidate. 3. A student who’s attendance is sterling with no unexcused absences. 4. A student who never shows disrespect in any way to our country, I.E. The National Anthem, our flag, our military , first responders and/or law enforcement officials. 5. A student who never shows disrespect toward his/ her teachers. 6. All things being equal, a student coming from a less than affluent family who may genuinely need financial help to move to the next level of education. Edgewater, Florida - Sept. 2017 New Smyrna-Edgewater Eagles #4242 recently donated $1,000 to the Volusia County Humane Society. Inverness, Florida - September 2017 Citrus #3992 recently partnered with Eugene Quinn VFW Post #4337 to assist deserving Vietnam veteran Bob Calabreese with a new water well. New Port Richey, Florida - January 2017 On Oct. 1, the Ladies’ Auxiliary #3153 held an Italian event for Alzheimer’s, presenting a grant check for $2,000 to Dan Minor of the Alzheimer’s South Florida Foundation.
