Piedmont, Virginia - Sept. 2017

On Aug. 19, Eagles from across the state gathered for the 8th Annual Dean Ferris Eagle Riders Memorial Ride. Registration ran until 12:45 p.m. before 55 bikes and 10 cars and trucks headed out with police escort for a 65-mile ride through beautiful scenic country roads. Riders passed through fields of cantaloupe and tobacco before stopping at a Welcome Center, a classic country store called Paul’s Place and a firestation in Turbeville for their famous cantaloupe. Riders returned to the Piedmont Aerie with several members lining the road waving American flags to welcome the bikes back. Participants were treated to BBQ, baked beans, homemade slaw and cold drinks. At the end of the day, $27,222.56 was raised for the Danville Pittsylvania Cancer Association.
