On May 20,they held a member bingo fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House in Richmond, raising $180. On June 17th, another member bingo fundraiser for St. Joseph’s Villa raised $166. Lastly, a Cookout, Music and Karaoke Fundraiser for Bobby Martin, a member who recently underwent a heart transplant, raised $660. From the September 2017 edition of People Helping People Related Articles Richmond, Virginia - May 2017 Lakeside Eagles #4211 recently held a pair of fundraisers to benefit area causes. On April 8, they held a public cookout, corn hole tournament and karaoke party raising $532 for the Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad. On April 29, they held a member bingo event, raising $140 for the Lakeside Youth Baseball organization. Sutherlin, Virginia - Sept. 2017 Piedmont Eagles #4420 held its 2017 Scholarship Dinner in July, where 11 $1,000 scholarships were awarded. Recipients included Benjamin Isom, Kayleigh Hall, Cassidy Elliott, Hannah Keatts, Jessica Younger, Breanna Anderson, Reid Brown, Anthony Buzzetta, Kolby Puryear, Hunter Pyron and Alexandra Love. Piedmont, Virginia - Sept. 2017 On Aug. 19, Eagles from across the state gathered for the 8th Annual Dean Ferris Eagle Riders Memorial Ride. Registration ran until 12:45 p.m. before 55 bikes and 10 cars and trucks headed out with police escort for a 65-mile ride through beautiful scenic country roads. Riders passed through fields of cantaloupe and tobacco before stopping at a Welcome Center, a classic country store called Paul’s Place and a firestation in Turbeville for their famous cantaloupe. Riders returned to the Piedmont Aerie with several members lining the road waving American flags to welcome the bikes back. Participants were treated to BBQ, baked beans, homemade slaw and cold drinks. At the end of the day, $27,222.56 was raised for the Danville Pittsylvania Cancer Association. Sutherlin, Virginia - January 2017 Piedmont Eagles #4420 made their annual visit to Pittsylvania County School Board Office on Monday, Nov. 21, to deliver 26 dinners for distribution to families for Thanksgiving. Members of the Eagles shopped for, packed the dinners in boxes, then loaded them into the group’s trailer for the ride to Chatham. Not pictured was committee chairperson Lori Nuhfer. Colonial Beach, Virginia - April 2017 Colonial Beach Eagles #4315 made a generous donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital last month. As a result of months of planning by benefit committee chairman, Bill Hall, co-chair Rebecca Kinson, and committee members Debbie Bennett, Donna Barnette, Patricia Cochran, Debra Garcia, Carrie Keister, Ginger Roth, Sharon Schellin, and Linda Watts, the F.O.E. was able to donate $12,232 to this worthy cause. Committee members ran several events to raise funds, including a brown bag auction, buffets during football games, and a prime rib dinner. This is an annual fundraising effort for the Colonial Beach Eagles. Colonial Beach, Virginia - September 2018 Colonial Beach Aerie #4315 presented St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with a $15,000 check.
