Related Articles Augusta, Georgia - April 2018 Augusta Aerie #1197 held a benefit for Dennis Bedichek, where they raised $5,696 through a gun raffle, silent auction, gift card raffle, and 50/50 raffle. Bedichek is currently battling Stage 4 Metastatic Signet Cell Carcinoma, and the proceeds will be used to help him and his family with any medical needs. Bedichek served his country in the National Guard and served his community as a Richmond County Sheriff’s Deputy until he had to resign due to health issues. St. Marys, Georgia - November 2018 -The St. Marys Eagle Riders #4379 conducted a Charity Ride on September 29 to raise $2,105 to support Jason Gardner in his fight with cancer. Jason, the son of Auxiliary Madam President Cheryl Gardner and Aerie Vice President Pete Gardner was overwhelmed with the outpouring of support and couldn’t believe so many strangers would come together to help him. Seeing what the Eagles is about, Jason was initiated on October 15 and hopes to help others as he was helped. -On October 13, St. Marys Eagles #4379 celebrated paying off the mortgage and officially owning their building with a giant celebration, which included music, food, and the burning of their mortgage document. The Aerie and Auxiliary came together to honor all the hard work and charity fundraising that has occurred over the past 20 years. Foley, Alabama - April 2018 Coastal Aerie #4549 celebrated its grand opening and raised $600 during the event. Federal Heights, Colorado - April 2018 Aerie #4019 held a breakfast fundraiser to support Shield 616 and the Federal Heights Police Department, where they raised $1,200. Recently, three police officers were shot and killed in the line of duty. The Aerie was saddened by the tragic officer deaths and wanted to do something to help the men and women who risk their lives daily. The cause, Shield 616 “Support the Shield” helps better equip the men and women in the local police department safe with the best gear possible to keep them safe. Through the donated funds, Shield 616 will purchase and distribute rifle-ready protection designed for quick deployment to departments across Colorado. Elyria, Ohio - April 2018 Elyria Eagle Riders Aerie #431 held a spaghetti dinner and raffle fundraiser for Rayshawn and Samantha Camel after they lost everything in a house fire around Christmas. During the benefit, $1,500 was raised, and the Eagle Riders and Eagle Club raised $600 out of that total. The Camels are grateful for the community’s help, especially after the house damage ended up being estimated at $40,000 and is currently uninhabitable. Greenfield, Ohio - April 2018 American flags dedicated to the 660 veterans who take their own lives each month are now on display at the Paint Aerie #1325 Eagles lodge. The flags are a part of the Forgotten Soldiers project, which is designed to bring attention to this tragedy by moving the display every so often to a different location.
