Members of the Eagles shopped for, packed the dinners in boxes, then loaded them into the group’s trailer for the ride to Chatham. Alexandria, Virginia - February 2017 The Eagles of Alva Aerie #871 were proud to deepen their ties with the community by participating in the 46th Annual Alexandria Scottish Walk Parade on Dec. 3, 2016. The annual tradition benefits the Campagna Center, a local organization which provides educational and social support for all ages. Alva Eagles kicked off its first parade appearance in many years under the leadership of Outreach Committee Chair David Robbins. Dozens of Aerie and Auxiliary members marched alongside their truck, carrying banners, flags and balloons, distributing literature to adults and candy to children. Atop the truck was a giant inflatable eagle. Sutherlin, Virginia - Sept. 2017 Piedmont Eagles #4420 held its 2017 Scholarship Dinner in July, where 11 $1,000 scholarships were awarded. Recipients included Benjamin Isom, Kayleigh Hall, Cassidy Elliott, Hannah Keatts, Jessica Younger, Breanna Anderson, Reid Brown, Anthony Buzzetta, Kolby Puryear, Hunter Pyron and Alexandra Love. Sleepy Hollow, New York - February 2017 Members of Sleepy Hollow Eagles #1042 held a pot luck dinner in November to raise money for the chosen organization of the event chairperson. Last year’s chairperson, Rose Kollar, is the co-founder of Support Connection – an area nonprofit started to provide free support services for breast and ovarian cancer patients. The pot luck raised $2,115 for the cause thanks to the large number of raffle tickets purchase by both men and women at the Eagles. Colonial Beach, Virginia - April 2017 Colonial Beach Eagles #4315 made a generous donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital last month. As a result of months of planning by benefit committee chairman, Bill Hall, co-chair Rebecca Kinson, and committee members Debbie Bennett, Donna Barnette, Patricia Cochran, Debra Garcia, Carrie Keister, Ginger Roth, Sharon Schellin, and Linda Watts, the F.O.E. was able to donate $12,232 to this worthy cause. Committee members ran several events to raise funds, including a brown bag auction, buffets during football games, and a prime rib dinner. This is an annual fundraising effort for the Colonial Beach Eagles. Richmond, Virginia - May 2017 Lakeside Eagles #4211 recently held a pair of fundraisers to benefit area causes. On April 8, they held a public cookout, corn hole tournament and karaoke party raising $532 for the Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad.
