The drawing was held at Ribs, Rods, and Rock’n’Roll following the Eagle Riders’ 10th Annual Charity Poker Run. This was the second Harley Davidson raffled off by the Riders for charity. Kothel’s winning ticket was purchased at Riverboat Days in Yankton. 2,000 tickets were sold at a cost of $20 each. Dunlap Kidney Fund to University of South Dakota researchers Curtis Kost, Jr., PhD and Douglas Martin, PhD for a project entitled Protective Effect of Bradykinin Receptors in Hypertension and Chronic Kidney Disease. The check was presented by visiting Grand Worthy President-Elect Tom McGrath. Vermillion, South Dakota - October 2018 Inclement weather threatened the cancellation of The University of South Dakota’s homecoming festivities and Sunshine Aerie and Auxiliary #2421 stepped to provide the venue so the party could go on. Just two hours before, the Aerie and Auxiliary were holding rituals in the same room. Vermillion, South Dakota - October 2019 Sunshine Aerie #2421 held a spaghetti dinner and donated the total proceeds of $4,500 to the University of South Dakota Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders. Following dinner, a check presentation was made by Dakota State Chaplain Kent Osborne to Dr. Mandy Williams as a grant from the Eagles' Jimmy Durante Children's Fund to support the identification and treatment of children born with cleft palate. A signature cocktail was served with 50/50 raffles held as well. South Central Region - January 2017 On very rare occasions do members from each of the respective levels gather to teach and share in the fraternal spirit. At the South Central Regional Conference on Oct. 22-24, hosted by Saint Joseph, Mo., #49, such an event happened. Dunlap Kidney Fund $510 for the GMP’s Charity, Tri-State Honor Flight $150 for the Golden Eagle, Alzheimer’s & Parkinson’s Funds $140 for the Jimmy Durante Children’s Fund $370 for the Lew Reed Spinal Cord Injury Fund $201 for the Max Baer Heart Fund $366 for the Memorial Foundation $648 for the Robert Hansen Diabetes Fund The Region also presented grants for $5,000 from the Grand Aerie and the Kansas Past State Presidents. Illinois - September 2017 Blue Island Auxiliary #1332 member Janice Soria was inducted into the Illinois State Auxiliary Hall of Fame during the State Convention on June 13. Janice routinely goes above and beyond to serve the Illinois State Eagles and the sisters of Illinois were proud to bestow this prestigious honor upon her for her efforts.
