28 October Virginia - September 2020 October 28, 2020 By The Fraternal Order of Eagles Virginia 0 All of Fraternal Order of Eagle locations in the state of Virginia collectively raised $38,013.30 for the Guadalupe Free Clinic as a part of charity project for Llyod “Tommy” Edwards, member of #4315 and the 2019-2020 Virginia State President. The different locations raised money by holding various events during Edwards’s presidency. The money will be used to assist the Guadalupe Free Clinic with their needs as they serve the town of Colonial Beach and Westmoreland County. From the September 2020 edition of People Helping People. Related Articles Virginia City, Nevada - May 2020 Comstock Aerie #523 is donating $1,000 per month, for the next five months to Community Chest, Inc. to help assist with food, rental, and utility payments for those affected by COVID-19. They are donating an additional two $500 payments per month to go towards food for the Storey County Senior Center. Fredericksburg, Virginia - June 2020 Fredericksburg Eagles #4123 has been proudly supporting their Eagle Brothers, Ryan Pritt and Reggie Alcaraz, as they continue their racing careers at Dominion Raceway. Michigan - September 2020 Michigan State Fraternal Order of Eagles chose the Michigan Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for their charity partnership last year. State Worthy Jr. Past President George Schafer and the Michigan locations were able to raise more than $85,000 to support their mission. Fredericktown, Missouri - September 2020 Fredericktown #3758 is sponsoring a food drive in the community, and donated to Cooper Durrs’ educational trip after he overcame long-term health issues. Durrs’ mother also hosted a benefit, and the Eagles covered the entertainment for the event. Beatrice, Nebraska - September 2020 Beatrice Eagles #531 recently donated $50 checks to each first responder within Gage County, with the amount totaling $4,910 that was distributed to three organizations. They also included a letter to each department explaining that anyone on the front lines and the support staff are an important part of Gage County, and shared the motto of ‘People Helping People.’ Anchorage, Alaska - September 2020 Anchorage Eagles #4207 presented a $5,000 check to the Blood Bank of Alaska. They are the only blood bank in Alaska and they have to send samples of blood to the lower 48 states to be tested before it can be used. The money will be used to equip the lab to test blood locally. Anchorage Eagles #4207 made a $5,000 donation to the Alaska Injury Prevention Center. This grant will fund four educational presentations of CarFit to Alaskans over the age of 55. Motor vehicle crashes are the second leading cause of serious injury to this age group and this grant will provide adaptive devices and a check of how well their personal vehicle "fits" them.
