Georgetown, Ohio - August 2019 Pleasant Aerie #2293 made a $1,000 donation to the Midwest Dream Center of Adam’s County to help those in the program overcome their drug addiction. Lebanon, Ohio - August 2019 Lebanon Eagle Riders #1395 donated $5,500 to their local Human Society. The proceeds came from their 7th annual Jerry Bice Memorial Critter Race Run that was held in June 2019. Over the past 7 years, a collective total of $21,450 has been donated to this cause. Chattanooga, Tennessee - August 2019 Scenic City Aerie and Auxiliary #945 presented a H.O.M.E. grant in the amount of $1,303 to CHI Memorial Hospital Cancer Support Center. The H.O.M.E. Fund is housed within the Memorial Foundation and allows for donations to organizations not permitted by the Charity Foundation. Anchorage, Alaska - August 2019 Anchorage Auxiliary #4207 provided Anchorage Search Team with a check for $2,000. They discovered this group (AST) when their Aerie brother Herb Spencer, who suffers from Dementia, went for a daily walk but did not return home. They searched the Anchorage area tirelessly, contacting individuals along trails, placing flyers around town. Herb was found 5 days later; cold, wet and tired. When #4207’s Auxiliary Sister Marsha Lawton inquired with AST as to what the Auxiliary could do for them, their only request was to pay their annual insurance premium. The Anchorage Search Team is a volunteer search and rescue team located in Anchorage, Alaska. The team is committed to year round searches, day or night, for all citizens in Anchorage and statewide. All equipment, training/certifications expenses and costs are solely paid by dedicated team members and donations (no government funding is provided). Peru, Illinois - August 2019 The Illini Aerie #2688 partnered with their local Police department to host a bike safety rodeo for kids. During the event, the police officers conducted a safety talk about proper road rules and signals, and they made sure that the kids bikes had enough air in the tires , helped adjust seat heights, and showed the children how to properly wear a helmet. After the training, the kids got to run through an obstacle course so they could practice what they just learned. After completing the course, each child received a snack bag and goodies from the police department and a certificate with their name on it for completing the course.
